Zuigia

Zuigia Made up by Staj who hails from New Mexico in the USA, the name 'Zuigia' was an imaginary place where he could spend time with someone and they could really get to know him before making judgements about him. Zuigia also became the name of Staj's three-piece acoustic eclectic/folk outfit that toured coffeehouses and colleges in the USA before being invited to Australia in 2004, to try to reduce this country's high teen suicide rate. With his own incredible story of an inspiring triumph over personal tragedy and abuse, Staj shares his music from a genuine concern and care for Australian youth.

The band fell in love with Australia and stayed, performing daily (sometimes seven times a day!) in schools across the country. in 2007, the band members began new journeys and now solo, Staj continues to perform under the name of Zuigia in high schools across Australia, telling his story through his music. His background relates with many people and brings a message of hope to the students that are hurting and lonely.

Gavin Gardner

Gavin GardnerTamworth, NSW native Gavin Gardner started playing guitar at the age of fifteen, when his Dad gave him a guitar for his birthday, hoping to pass on his love of country music to his son. When Gavin had quickly mastered the three chords necessary... he was invited to join church band rehearsals.

HIs early mentor was saxophonist and singer Johnny Ortiz, who had played with the Righteous Brothers, the Beach Boys, and Tina Turner. Gavin's influences range from his father, through to Oasis, Johnny Cash and even classical piano.

Gavin's story, though, has not always been an easy or straightforward one. Like many others, he fell into drugs, drinking and a life that was not really going anywhere. It was, he says, a profound spritual experience that brought him out of that and he found his songs started to change. He has since aimed to write 'Songs that aren't sugar coated but are raw and real just like King David's stuff. Honest with people... honest with God.... That's how I write and that's how I hope to touch people with my music.'

Mark Tulk

Mark TulkAs a keyboard player and songwriter, Mark has been composing, recording and arranging music for nearly two decades, from VCA theatre productions to his own material -- and of course producing the work of other Artists on the Small House label.

Mark's 'day job' is President of Small House Records, which helps explain why it has taken so long to release his own material! With influences ranging from The Beatles & Bob Dylan to Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, David Byrne, John Cale, Sufjan Stevens & Nick Drake, Mark's songs create 'sonic landscapes' for the listener to journey through... to experience a shadowy world of poetry and dreams... to explore the vagaries and mysteries of life, and what makes us who we are.

His EP 'At The End Of The Day' is due out in the second half of 2008. And to put it simply, it is long overdue.
